Came here for a family holiday and we were all highly disappointed. Wouldn't recommend.
Response from Lake Hume Tourist Park
Hi Simone. Thanks for your feedback regarding the Lake Hume Tourist Park. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you and your party that stay accommodation and not paying for it is thievery. It clearly states on our website, and all our booking formats that all accommodation types are for 2 adults only and any extra guests on a site or in a cabins will require further payment per head for anyone above 3 years of age. This is an industry standard. As you were not prepared to pay for all guests using our accomodation and facilities, a member of your party also physical assaulted one of our staff, and another vandalised park property, the police, who visited the park due to safety issues arising from members of your parties actions, recommended we remove you from the park and not allow you to rebook.

Under new management. Be aware! Go somewhere else. Picking a location is one thing but it really can make or break your holiday if you have rude, money hungry management.

New management here only want your money. Worst holiday I've ever been to for a family. Not worth a cent. Never been treated so poorly in my life. Don't bother. Find another place to stay!

My parents have been coming here for 10 years. 2 little old pensioners. Always same time of year starting boxing day for 4 nights. They re-book at the end of their stay for the following year. This last year however new management has advised them if they book for next year 2017, they will need a 7 day minimum. This is not at all practical for like i said 2 little old pensioners that cannot afford it. So eventually management called us and agreed to 5 days as minimum instead, which is still 1 more day than what they have been doing in the last 10 years. So, without agreement from us or consent they have taken it upon themselves to charge MY credit card which I used to pay in a previous year WITHOUT my authorisation which is a form of fraud. Putting this issue aside for a minute which is quite serious, my parents decided that since they are regulars, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt and go for the 5 days. I then get an email with an internal survey from the park so they can supposedly improve their services which I filled out. In the comments section, I mentioned that 7 days is not practical and they will not return in future years if the 7 day minimum stands. They will agree to the 5 days only even though it's more than usual. I then suddenly get an email from them basically saying if you're not happy with us, don't bother ever coming back. I was extremely flabbergasted by this. They've asked for feedback, received it, they were not happy with it so they've banned 2 little old pensioners from returning without even calling after the survey to discuss any issues. What company does this? Isn't that the idea of feedback forms? I then very calmly called and spoke to the manager Sharon who I tried to explain they agreed to 5 days and will not come back for 7 days in the future which is what my feedback was all about. I explained my feedback was an honest opinion and to please re consider banning my parents. She then continued to tell me they're not welcome with feedback like that and hung up on me. I calmly called back to try and reason with her but they blatantly refused to allow my parents to come back even though they have been coming for 10 years. Poor new management at this site now, you'll be better off going somewhere else or staying at the hotel next door if you want to stay by the lake. This lot are just money hungry with mediocre facilities and if they can screw over 2 little old pensioners, imagine what they can do to you and your family. JUST STAY AWAY!!!!
Response from Lake Hume Tourist Park
Hi Belinda. Thanks for taking the time to make a review for our park. We understand you are frustrated for your parents and their recent experience at our park. However, we feel like the information has not travelled back to you correctly and would like to and we would like to clarify the circumstances of their proposed booking. The Xmas New Years 2016/17 period had a 7 night minimum. The park has had a 7 night minimum over this booking period dating back prior to 2011. The park has fallen into receivership twice before the current owners tenure started and moving forward, we feel it is very important to get the park on the right track so guests can enjoy the park for years to come. One way we plan to do this is by following polices put in place at the park which have previous been ignored, such as minimum night stays during peak periods, which are industry standards. Your parents booked/stayed for 4 nights this year. This booking was made prior to the current managers starting at the park. This booking was made incorrectly, and if they stayed for 4 nights during previous years also, those booking were made incorrectly as well. During the current Xmas New Years period, the park management has decided to change the park to a 5 night minimum moving forward (trying to allow more guests to enjoy the park, while trying to accommodate previously incorrectly made bookings like your parents). This change of minimum night was told directly to your parents, twice, once it was decided upon. Your parents are not banned from the park. A bond was taking for your parents booking for Xmas 2017. This was charged to a credit card, as agreed upon by your parents. After a conversation between our staff and yourself, it was decided the booking for Xmas 2017 was to be cancelled due the booking not being able to meet the booking criteria. The bond was returned to the credit card. Once again, while we understand your frustrations, we would ask you to please be mindful of how you speak to our staff members. Our staff are instructed to not take bookings from guests who engage them in an aggressive, and/or demeaning manner, as it may potentially cause OH&S issues. Reservations are still welcome for the Xmas New Years period 2017 if they meet the reservation criteria (minimum nights, bond, payment due dates). Please note: This reservation criteria’s is standard across the industry.
