Open on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the Deniliquin & District Historical Society Museum is a fascinating attraction within the former police inspector's residence, built in the 1880s. The museum exhibits items relating to the history of the Deniliquin Town Band, Picnic Races, Red Cross and the shearing industry, as well as a war veterans display of memorabilia, a collection of police records and various historical costumes.

Deni comes to life in the warmer months of the year, hosting renowned events such as the Deni Ute muster, held in October, giving many locals and interstate travellers a brilliant reason to descend and revel in celebrating all things traditionally Australian, including ute circle work, bull riding, as well as country and rock music. If you prefer more subdued music, there is the Easter Blues & Roots Festival, with performers traveling in from all over the world. There is plenty more in store, with fishing, water skiing and Country Race days all prime calendar events, throughout the year.

Deniliquin is a seven hour and 45 minute drive south west from Sydney via the Hume Highway, and a three and a half hour drive north of Melbourne.
No matter what time of year you want to travel to Deni, something will be on to occupy your time. The large majority of event occurring between the October – April months, so this is the best time to visit. With this in mind, be sure to book any accommodation well in advance. And if you are planning to go in another time of year, Deni has enough sunshine to rival the Far north of Australia, for the majority of the year and really only has heavy rain fall through the winter months.
