ONE OF THE WORST CARAVAN PARKS I HAVE EVER STAYED AT. If you are thinking of staying here, please reconsider.. There is an abattoir across the road from the caravan park, which produces the worst smell of death from the varying animals which they are killing that day. The photos on their website are from a few years ago, when the old management were there. The park is run down and in need of a good clean. Try contacting the park during opening times, you will just get an answering machine and if you do get to speak to someone you will be lucky if they know what they are talking about and they are not helpful. We stayed in a deluxe cabin, which on inspection seemed clean, but once we got in and had a good look, it really needed a good clean. I even mopped the floor that evening, having to change he water twice, as the floor was that dirty. I have a 9month old who I couldn't put on the floor with his toys until this was done.. We asked for extra rubbish bags, to be told that the cleaner had gone for the day and the receptionist didn't know where they were.. I also had to supply my own dish washing detergent and don't get me started on the wash cloth... The bathroom clean but upon further inspection, the soap holder in the shower was broken and just hanging on, the vent in both the bathroom and second toilet was filthy. The beds were terrible. They must have been the most cheapest and nastiest mattress available.. Everytime I tuned over, I could feel the springs sticking into my back, hard and very lumpy.. From the moment we opened the sliding doors to the cabin, there was a dead smell, I just put it down to the abattiors, but after spraying, airing the cabin out and the wind blowing in the opposite direction, the smell was still there.. The first night, I felt sick and my sons behaviour changed. He just wasn't himself.. I went to complain the second day we were there, but no one was at the reception and this was at 4pm. I again aired out the cabin and left windows open etc. The next day was where I had enough. The smell was too over powering. I went to compain again and there was finally someone at reception. The stand in manager wasn't overly helpful, to start off with she couldn't find my booking, when she found my booking, I was told I was in the wrong cabin(like it was my fault) she came to my cabin and inspected the smell, telling me that the smell was dead fish and started looking in cupboards and the fridge. I explained that the smell was there from the minute we arrived.. She finally put it down to the gas stove as left on and it was slightly leaking gas. She offered to move us into another unit for the night, which was not as nice as the one we were in nor was there talk of compensation. After turing the gas off at the stove(which we had not used at all) she opened all the windows in the unit and said see how it is in an hour.. which I agreed too... It was a warmish night, so all windows were left open until we werent to bed where they were closed. Over night, the smell returned again..But at least this time, I was not feeling ill with the smell and my son seemed to be ok.. The morning of leaving the Caravan park, I went to reception at 10am which was check out time to drop in the keys and tell her about the smell.. Suprise suprise no one was there the doors were locked and lights were off.. My husband and I left the keys with my parents whom were staying in their caravan and my mum was going to walk over and hand in the keys and explain the smell when they opened... I had a call at 11am from the manager asking where they keys were. I explained I came over at 10am to drop off the keys but no one was at reception. I was cut off and was told that I should have dropped the keys off at the key drop box, when I mentioned about the smell, she fobbed me off by staying they will investigate it and hung up... Upon reading this you might think I could have changed caravan parks, it was explained under no circumstances will money be returned. We paid over $400 for 3 nights, I was not going to my loose money.. Please do not waste your money at this caravan park..
Compact and quite park - but iI felt like we were staying in a private back yard because of all the permanents. Facilites were adequate but the entire park needs maintenence - it looks unloved and unkept. Don't who/if any one manages the park, we didn't see any one that identified themself as staff or owner (over 6 days) except the casual worker that checked us in.
Overall the park is very tired and needs updating. Facilities very clean and en suites were great BUT the Managers need to be educated in "people skills". Some of the permanent residents need to be reminded by the Management - the rules of the park regarding noise. Maybe the Managers need to be seen out and about tidying up the grounds occasionally.
In some places this is marked as Big 4 but not on their site so??? Very peaceful park but a lot off attention is needed to it as everything is overgrown and tired looking. Amenities are very clean but in both there were toilets and showers not working. We were told that the new People had only been there 5 months so it would be interesting to go back again in 12 months time. Stories about the smell from the Meatworks across the road were quite unfounded when we were there.
